Driveway Paving

We will guide you through the fundamental steps in making an educated decision on your driveway installation and maintenance needs. Our estimator will meet, at your convenience, to provide a complimentary estimate on the type of driveway application you desire.

Frontier Asphalt Services offers affordable asphalt paving for driveways, paths, walkways and small lots. We start by removing loose or broken asphalt, patching and repairing the damaged areas with new asphalt. Existing asphalt areas will be cut back for a tie-in. Next, we will clean the surface of dirt and debris and apply a tack coat to the existing asphalt surface. This aids in the bonding of new asphalt. We will level all areas as needed for an even surface. We then overlay or resurface the existing lot or surface with new material. We recommend seal coating all new asphalt for a long-lasting surface that is protected from the elements.

Asphalt Sealcoating

Sealcoating is an important part of the asphalt maintenance process. Over time, asphalt is susceptible to oxidation from the sun and damage from water penetrating beneath it’s surface. Sealcoating not only makes your pavement look new, it protects it from oxidation as well as petroleum spills.

Sealcoating extends the life of your asphalt and protects your investment.
We recommend sealcoating any newly paved project within the first 6 months - 1 year, and then every two to four years thereafter.

We begin by thoroughly cleaning the entire asphalt surface. Once the asphalt surface is clean, we will repair any problem areas by patching and crack filling. When repairs have been completed and have had time to dry, we complete the seal coating process. Our process involves applying a hot oil based seal coat material mixed with sand. Where appropriate, to prevent staining of those surfaces, small brushes are used to cut-in adjacent to curbs, aprons, sidewalks, etc. You may notice a darker shade resulting from additional material in those areas, but in time, these areas will blend in with the rest of your driveway. This important step of the asphalt paving process will ensure your asphalt will last for much longer by withstanding the elements.

Asphalt Extending

If your current driveway/asphalt is too narrow or you need more parking space we can enlarge your existing surface. This is a good option for those with smaller driveways who need more space or anyone not looking to completely replace, either way we have you covered.

For this service we will excavate grass and dirt and haul away the material. Next, we install 21A stone as needed, grade, and compact. We then install 3 inches SM 9.5A VDOT approved asphalt, rolled and compacted to 2 ½ inches. Finally, we hand-tamp the edges for added support.

Asphalt Repair

Over time the base material under your driveway starts to move and break down. Freezing, thawing and fluctuating temperature cycles can also have an adverse impact on the base material causing the base material to "pump" up into the surface resulting in cracking and breaking. This is a very common occurrence, especially in areas with heavy clay. Our driveway asphalt repair service is performed to correct isolated or random areas with problems.

Potholes, low spots, sinking at the garage, alligator or spider web cracking (numerous cracks that run together) are all candidates for repair. Damaged asphalt is carefully removed and new gravel is installed and compacted as needed. We will then apply a strong tack coat to the edges of the newly cut area. Finally, we install new high-quality asphalt at the same grade as adjoining pavement and compact to a uniform finish. Driveway and lot asphalt repair is a cost-effective alternative to replacement. As always, we recommend finishing the job with professional seal coating from Frontier Asphalt Services.
